Wow, am I fired up! I don’t know if it’s the cup of coffee I just drank or the fact I have Ray Lewis motivational speeches playing in the background. Or could it be the fact that I’m motivated and inspired to better myself each and everyday. Whether it be in the weight room, the classroom, or in the game we call life, I want you guys to never give up on something that you love and strive to be GREAT. Find your passion and do whatever it takes. Whatever your fire burns for, nobody can stop you but you!! But before you do it, you gotta have one thing.
Read along to find out what that one thing is….
This past weekend, I had the honor to talk to my high school strength coach, Coach Gore.
Do you have that TOUGH AS NAILS mentaility?
Coach Gore is probably one of the most influential people I have met. I didn’t think it while I was in high school, but looking back, I owe my mental toughness to this guy. He made it a point for me to make sure I am training my athletes mentally as well as physically. There was a reason for everything he did, and definitely not all off it was to get us bigger, faster, and stronger in the weight room. Most of what he did prepared us mentally for football, and for life. Some of us thrived off of it, and some of us crawled in a corner. He did more for us than we recognized at that moment. He helped prepare my mind for college football as well as this roller coaster we all like to call life. As I have talked to a few former Addison Trail Football Alumni, they have said the same thing, that they owe their mental toughness to Coach Gore. Just when you think you have nothing more to give, he taught us that we had so much more in the tank. There was a method to his madness, and there was a reason why we were well oiled machines come the fourth quarter of football games, while the opposing team was gasping for air, running around with their tail between their legs.
It was that mental toughness
He instilled it in our heads that the body can take ten times more pain than the mind tells it.
If you have that No Pain, No Gain mentality, you are apart of a Rare Breed.
Now let me ask you this question…How Tough Are You?
Push yourself past your limit every day, you’d be surprised how far you can go.
Have a great week!
